The signs of aging in your face can be problematic when you can’t understand the causes. Lea Goldman, editor of Marie Claire, sought a solution to the growing circles under her eyes. She was concerned about her appearance because of being well-rested and the appearance of someone that was consistently tired.

Dermal Fillers Help Under Eye Circles
Surgery.org posted the story of the 35-year-old magazine editor and her attempts to roll back Father Time’s mark on her face. She tried concealer makeup, glasses to cover her under-eye circles, and even set up a consultation with a board-certified physician.
Goldman’s eye circles came from a lack of collagen below her eyes, exposing facial muscles. The physician told her that aging was the most likely reason for her appearance—and others could include smoking, alcohol, quick weight loss, lack of sleep and dehydration.
She then learned of a treatment called Restylane, a hyaluronic acid filler that the doctor told her would reduce the circles for as long as one year. And because the under-eye area is sensitive to pain, the procedure “stung like 100 rubber bands snaps.” But after applying ice packs and a soothing cream during recovery, Goldman was happy that the eye circles were severely reduced.
Other fillers like Juvederm and Prevelle Silk are effective for eye circles. Surgical treatments include lower eyelid operations (blepharoplasty) for under-eye bags from wrinkling and skin-bunching. Other cosmetic procedures include chemical peels.
Whatever your plan, be sure to consult with a board-certified doctor. A medial professional working out of an accredited office or med-spa is more likely to take better safety measures and ensure optimal patient care.
